Another day and another disappointment from one who claimed to be a conservative warrior. On X, Eli Steele called her a fraud and claimed to have known it from the start. Sadly, I was roped in as many others were.
Candace Owens appeared to be a bright, beautiful, black, female conservative when she authored Blackout in 2020 and fostered the Blexit movement as a means of getting black voters to remove themselves from the modern day Democratic Party plantations. Her understanding of how the Democrats and liberals not only use the black vote to their advantage but expect to receive the black vote without any return on blacks’ investment has been echoed by many over the years, but Candace’s youth and enthusiasm caused more to take note.
Over time, she had made what some deemed unusual and pro-white statements. For example, several months ago while on The Tucker Carlson Encounter show on X, she reaffirmed her anti-BLM stance in the face of George Floyd’s death, because she didn’t believe in the idea of defunding the police; she reaffirmed her anti-Covid vaccine stance; and, she questioned where the Jewish donor population was during the anti-white curriculum being taught at elite schools. The expectation that we all must come together to stand with Israeli and American Jews who were silent as white students were expected to apologize for their privilege seemed oxymoronic to her.
I agreed then and agree with these statements today. Hypocrisy runs amok with causes. But something has shifted for her. Though she deems her ideas as moderate, in truth, Candace has become an American isolationist.
At his Farewell Address in 1796, George Washington warned against the United States being intertwined with world affairs and lengthy alliances, for good reason. We were a new country trying to establish ourselves as independent of other nations. There was a no strings attached approach to the acceptance of France’s aid during the American Revolution, for example. For George, alliances with other countries for trade and protection should be with an attitude of “What’s in it for the United States?”
Looking at Biden’s foreign policy, I agree that we should be questioning our involvement with Ukraine by sending arms, monies, and consultants. It is not our fight and if Europe is concerned, they should be stepping up. In other words, we are not heeding George Washington’s advice. No matter how many times we hear from the Biden administration that a loss of Ukraine to the Russians is a loss of democracy, it doesn’t ring true. America is extending its debt for a country we gain nothing from, a country still filled with corruption.
Note, there have been conflicts between Russia and Ukraine causing mass casualties well before this latest saga. In 2013, for example, The Carnegie Endowment ran the article “Why Does Ukraine Matter to the EU?,” which explained the sentiment that if former Eastern Bloc countries, like Poland, reformed they’d be welcomed by the EU.
But Ukraine was not Poland. Corruption abounded and ties to Russia were still in the forefront. Thus, in 2013, the question of Ukraine’s relevance was asked. As noted at the time, “But today’s Ukraine is a mixed bag for EU members. Kyiv does not want to reform, and the Ukrainian leadership has taken numerous steps that move the country further away from the EU” (carnegieendowment.org).
Now that Zelenskyy is President of Ukraine, in order for Ukraine to be recognized as a member of the EU, Zelenskyy must promise to end the political corruption that has plagued Ukraine. This includes billionaire Ihor Kolomoisky who not only owned the television station where Zelenskyy’s comedy show was produced but backed Zelenskyy for president.
As of early May, Kolomoisky is in a Ukrainian jail with charges of money laundering and attempted murder. Think of Zelenskyy’s relationship with Kolomoisky as the kind that President Obama had with Reverend Wright. All is well until the heat gets turned up too high. Then, they throw away their close friends in the quest for the optics of legitimacy. Zelenskyy’s hands are not clean.
Safe to say that if it hadn’t been for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Zelenskyy would be another corrupt, failed, Ukrainian politician. So the MSNBC headline “Trump mocks Zelenskyy, calls him ‘the greatest salesman’” isn’t off the mark and begs the question why Biden is so keen to come to the aid of Ukraine. Ukraine has not been a great ally nor is a beacon of democracy.
The situation in Ukraine underscores Candace Owens’ isolationist beliefs. She is unabashedly America first. Meaning, she believes that we need to prioritize our problems over the problems across oceans. Until we can control our borders, handle our own poverty and homelessness, improve our education, improve our economy, etc., we should not involve ourselves in others’ conflicts. For the most part, this makes sense. However, there are realities that came knocking on our own doors.
The most ignorant comment she made in her interview with GBNews was her position on WWII. When the interviewer made mention of the 1930s isolationists and whether she felt their position was correct, Candace replied that the United States should not have gotten involved in WWII and added, “People don’t know how to deal with [this radical idea], because we’ve all been brainwashed by the school system…” The interviewer reminded Candace of Pearl Harbor to which she replied, “I mean, yes. Look. I think, of course, if you’re ever talking about a threat in terms of your nation being attacked, you should always have an equal response…Does the response necessarily dictate a world war? These are questions that should be relegated to an academic discussion.”
Here’s the thing, Candace. Wars erupt and once a country is attacked we are beyond academic discussions.
Let’s review WWII. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor killing and wounding more than 3,500 American servicemen and destroying our naval fleet. Afterward, the United States declared war on Japan; and, days later Germany and Italy declared war on the United States.
Using Candace’s academic discussion, we shouldn’t have declared war on Japan. Instead, we should have killed and wounded 3,500 of their servicemen and destroyed their naval fleet. I’m certain, knowing the atrocities the Japanese committed against the Chinese, Japan would have simply said, “Well, now the U.S. and Japan are even. Let’s walk away.” Equally, Hitler would have certainly listened to reason because clearly he was a reasonable man.
Candace’s desire to make ridiculously naive, incendiary statements (whether she truly believes them or not) is balderdash and shows her rewriting of world history. Lest she forgot, Chamberlain attempted appeasement with Hitler. Hitler scoffed and stormed into Poland. The U.S. entered the European front late while it contended with the Pacific front. Not wanting to back off of her beliefs that even she admitted she would have to be more educated about, she contended that using the A-bomb was wrongheaded.
Speaking of heads, I’m shaking mine. I have a problem with looking at WWII eighty years later with a 2024 lens. There is no doubt that Americans fought a just war that we did not start. This doesn’t mean that I love war. It means that we can’t be a paper tiger. Moreover, her contention that the U.S. and Great Britain is no better off for having won WWII is insane. I question why these opinions are coming forth after having commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
There should always be a reflection of causes and effects. We should learn from history. Thus, we could certainly make a case that prior to Hitler marching through countries, there should have been a stop to Germany’s increase in militarization. For, it went against the treaty signed at the end of WWI. But Europe was still finding its footing after WWI as Americans were dealing with their Lost Generation. Furthermore, how exactly would you take out Germany’s budding war machines without starting another war? Sanctions? Remember, Italy declared war on the United States, too.
These questions become even more amplified today in the aftermath that created global organizations who behave like referees whistling when sovereign countries cross ever changing rules given to member nations headed by committee members of radical countries.
I don’t know whether having children has softened Candace Owens, but she looks at Israel and Hamas and sees the innocence on both sides being killed. I look at Hamas and see a terrorist organization who trains young children to hate Jews. Beyond that, when they committed an act of terror, they unleashed the wrath of Israel. Now Israel may also have to contend with Iran’s terror group Hezbollah.
It’s great to have “academic discussions” about war. However, the discussions are not based in reality. There are still hostages in Gaza that Hamas could release but refuses to do so. Conflicts between tribes in Africa are ongoing with no way forward other than Communist China buying lands and using child laborers to gather minerals needed for EVs. Has the U.N. Human Rights Council, helmed by Iranian Ali Bahraini, sanctioned China? If so, I must have missed it.
There is no doubt, post-WWII, we got involved in conflicts overseas that we could have avoided if we allowed our military to do its job without interference from politicians. Communism’s march via Stalin should have been stopped at the Malta Conference. If we had taken care of things then, we wouldn’t have sent men to Korea or Vietnam years later. The same could be said of the handling of the Middle East with Operation Desert Storm. Saddam Hussein stayed in power and the anger of the Middle East toward the United States intensified leading to 9/11.
In war, nothing can be left unfinished with ceasefires. This, apparently, is what Candace Owens fails to understand. If you only fight with an equal response instead of annihilating the threat, years later you find yourself fighting the same enemies.
What should be done is to involve ourselves only when others declare war on the U.S. or if our country has a vested interest in a war’s outcome. We should completely drop out of the United Nations and NATO, which further commits ourselves to alliances that are no longer in our best interests. But until we are able to be completely self-sufficient, ridding ourselves of all businesses and manufacturing overseas—which will never happen—then a complete isolationist point of view is out of the question.
The fact that Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson cannot see that is mind-blowing.
1. Israel has every right to kill every Hanas that doest surrender.
2. WE SHOULD NOT SUPPORT URKRAINE IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. WE assured the Russkis that Ukraine would not join Nato. We reneged. Russia whether u like it or not demands a buffer to its borders. We agreed with that. It's the same as our Monroe Doctrine. No foreign countries with nukes in western hemisphere. That's why we confronted Russkis in Cuba with nukes.
3. But our corrupt whore politicians both GOP and Dems vote for the weapons industry pimps that kick back monies to our elected trollops so they can get reelected.
4. Remember Ike warning us about the Military Congressional (this word was removed after congress threatened ike) Industrial Complex. Monies spent UNECESSARILY on armaments for made up wars.
5. This bullscat about cutting SS and Medicare is so we can feed the war industries more and more.
Thank you for this.
