We are facing enemies from outside and from within, and not enough of us have read Sun Tzu’s The Art of War. Written hundreds of years before Christ’s birth, Sun Tzu’s short but insightful book doesn’t merely lay forth strategies for battle. It is also philosophical and psychological in its approach to war.
For example, Sun Tzu wrote, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
The United States has fallen into the last category. We have so many disturbed and confused individuals in our society that we cannot possibly know ourselves. There has, also, been a concerted effort to divide our country into smaller factions because it is easier to conquer smaller groups than one united force. This tactic is being employed by our own leaders and supposed non-profit organizations in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Not only has our society lost any sense of patriotism, but it lacks any sense of morality. We have been conditioned over time to erase any line drawn regarding right and wrong. American businesses and sports stars are easy targets. But this conditioning is also within our military. Leaders who, according to Sun Tzu, should “stand for the virtues of wisdom, sincerity, benevolence, courage, and strictness” are no where to be found. Instead, they are caving to the ever present “other.”
No military can function as one unit to confront outside enemies when they are catering to the whims of individuals. Our military is lacking discipline and, thus, our soldiers lack confidence. It is a wonder that recruitment numbers are down? Without knowing ourselves, we cannot possibly know our enemies.
Our current enemies are two-fold: China and our own government. Both are using quiet victories to defeat us. China’s Wuhan lab unleashed a virus that brought sickness, death, and economic woes to the world. The United States still has not completely recovered. With this virus came political decisions that forced non-essential business closures, mandatory vaccinations, masking, and mandates on our nation without regard to the harmful, long-term effects these rules would have on the psyche of Americans and their children. Those that fought against our government’s regulations were shunned and dismissed.
Today’s attempt by Dr. Fauci and Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, to rewrite Covid history is gutless. Our attention spans may be short, but we all remember being masked, working from home, and our children relegated to remote learning. We also remember how our politicians used Covid as a means of controlling our behaviors and ability to connect with loved ones. Isolation is another art of war.
Meanwhile, China has been purchasing American farmland at alarming rates. One parcel in North Dakota is only a dozen miles from Grand Forks Air Base. But there is no action from our government to stop Communist China from infiltrating our land nor, apparently, our air space. Let us not forget the Chinese balloon that the Biden administration allowed to traverse above our country for days. It is highly doubtful that the same consideration would be given if the situation was reversed.
Moreover, last year, the Department of Justice ended the China Initiative, which began under the Trump presidency. The goal was to keep China from stealing any United States’ intellectual property. It’s end is interesting since Christopher Wray said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, "There is just no country that presents a broader threat to our ideas, our innovation and our economic security than China” (Fox News).
But, Asian Americans felt they were being racially profiled while universities felt stifled by the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) version of the China Initiative. The NIH conducted their investigations in secret, expecting universities to review if NIH monies granted were used outside the guidelines provided. According to Science.org, by 2021 “103 of those scientists—some 42% of the 246 targeted in the letters, most of them tenured faculty members—had lost their jobs.”
One high profile professor was Charles Lieber of Harvard University who was found guilty of hiding his connection to China's Thousand Talents Plan and his payments of $50,000 per month from the Wuhan University of Technology, plus additional monies in grants. In exchange for these payments, Lieber “agreed to publish articles, organize international conferences and apply for patents on behalf of the Chinese university” (npr.org).
The China Initiative was clearly working, but our Department of Defense decided that renaming the program and broadening its reach to include North Korea, Iran, and Russia would be the best way forward. After all, we wouldn’t want to hurt the feelings of Chinese Communist Party officials.
However, when reviewing the 2021-2022 statistics regarding foreign students studying at our universities, we had an estimated 290,000 students from China, 9,000 from Iran, 5,000 from Russia, and, as one would expect, zero from North Korea (statista.com and Reason Magazine). Looking at these numbers should be enough to prove that the China Initiative is its proper name, and being politically correct is the wrong way to proceed against a foreign enemy.
What is most frightening about the state of affairs in the United States is the report from Safeguard Defenders regarding Chinese “service stations” (a.k.a. police stations) built around the world. Though these stations pose as places for Chinese nationals to gain innocuous information like local tourist attractions, instead they are connected to the Chinese police who are running operations to “persuade” escapees to return to China. According to Safeguard Defenders, “Some 54 such stations, in 30 countries, covering five continents have been uncovered so far. In the summer of 2022, Chinese official statements claimed some 230,000 claimed ‘fugitives’ had been ‘persuaded to return’ between April 2021 and July 2022.”
Family members remaining in China are usually used to help in the persuasion or else face their own punishments. For example, children of a fugitive can be denied education. Though the majority of these stations are in Europe, there are six in the United States: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Omaha, Houston, and New York City. These are known by our FBI but have not been shut down.
Instead, we play the game of arresting small fish as cover. As of April 2023, the FBI arrested two in New York City who were connected with these illegal police stations. They also prosecuted more than 30 who operated for the Chinese ministry of public scrutiny who “creat[ed] thousands of fake online personas to threaten and harass Chinese dissidents” (Voice of America). But they have been very slow moving with the other six still operating in the United States.
Why are we allowing Chinese penetration into the United States?
This week on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Rep. James Comer said, “The amount of money sent to Biden and Biden family entities has apparently impacted the decisions this administration has made that were adversarial to every American. Our national security is at risk because of bad policiy decisions that Joe Biden made that put China first and America last.”
These actions by our president and his administration follow in the footsteps of the last chapter of The Art of War, which discusses five types of spies working in consort with each other to be imperceptible. These include: local spies, inward spies, converted spies, doomed spies, and surviving spies. As Sun Tzu wrote, “Be subtle! be subtle! and use your spies for every kind of business. The enemies spies who have come to spy on us must be sought out, tempted with bribes, led away, and comfortably housed. Thus they will become converted spies and available for service.” Though all five types of spies must be used, it is the converted spies that are the most valuable. It is through their intelligence that armies will make decisions on how to proceed.
So, does it appear that the Biden administration is working with China? Absolutely. Is the Biden family making personal, financial deals with China? Yes. Everything our administration has done is to thwart any efforts to hold Communist China accountable for anything. Additionally, our intelligence community is more interested in lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop and making sure former-President Trump is kept from holding office.
As the New York Post has been reporting, there was a conspiracy afoot during the 2020 election to use false intelligence linking Hunter Biden’s laptop to Russian disinformation. The CIA was in on this scheme to lie and write a letter falsely attesting to a Russian scheme. They expected former CIA personnel to sign the letter adding a layer of authenticity to the lie. One person involved in a pay for play was former CIA analyst David Cariens. Cariens was writing a book that needed approval from the CIA. As Cariens is quoted in the New York Post, “When the person in charge of reviewing my book called to say that it was approved with no changes, I was told about the draft letter. The person asked me if I was willing to sign…I agreed to sign.”
Our entire Biden administration and intelligence community is corrupt and performed a secret coup to ensure Donald Trump would be a one term president while also working hand in hand with China and using Russia as a scapegoat. They have mastered an Obamaesque deep fake to keep our attentions constantly veering direction by drumming up suspicions leading us to turn on each other rather than fighting true outside and inside enemies. It’s like Rod Serling’s “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.” And Biden & Co. is nothing more than the Manchurian Candidate being paid by the highest bidders to turn our country over to Communism.
We may laugh at what appears to be Biden’s senility. We may be momentarily amused by what appears to be federal government and military ineptness. But make no mistake, Biden and his handlers know the Art of War and use its teachings well. As Sun Tzu wrote, "Amid the turmoil and tumult of battle, there may be seeming disorder and yet no real disorder at all; amid confusion and chaos, your array may be without head or tail, yet it will be proof against defeat.” We are in a war like no other in American history. For we are battling ourselves within Leftist-made disorder created to overtake our country.
It’s about time we learn to keep our friends close and our enemies closer. Another election will be here before we know it, and we’ll need to be focused and ready.
