To all readers and free subscribers of Common Folk 365:
I realize, that you haven’t heard from me in weeks. For personal reasons, I need to step away from writing for a while. This is an “until we meet again” period not a goodbye.
Thank you so much for being such wonderful supporters of this adventure. I have met so many fantastic people along the way and know that I will meet even more when I come back—hopefully sooner rather than later. You all have helped a novice writer’s dream come true.
I ask of you four actions while I am on hiatus:
Please add me and my family to your daily prayers. I promise to do the same for you and yours.
Read John Kass News (johnkassnews.com) and Chicago Contrarian (chicagocontrarian.com). I have been honored to be a part of such wonderful websites. Their columns/articles and those of their featured writers pushed me to be better. Most importantly, John Kass and Florian Sohnke’s personal support and encouragement has meant the world to me. Truly, I have been blessed.
Continue to contribute to Pastor Corey Brooks’ New Beginnings Church and Project H.O.O.D. (projecthood.org). He is a great man, mentor, and friend who is fighting the good fight while being a salmon swimming upstream. His faith, his integrity, and his positive vision for Chicago’s South Side is unmatched. Brooks has taken the more difficult road, and it will make all the difference with your help.
Don’t lose hope for our great nation. We must continue to fight for freedom and justice. Never believe polls, and never become complacent by believing there will always be a next time to vote. Voting is a right and a duty as a legal citizen. Get out and make your voices heard for school board members, mayors, governors, judges, congressmen, senators, and our president especially when the odds seem against your choices. Sitting out is never an option in our exceptional country. As we learned with Bush and Gore, your vote makes a difference.
Though it is incredibly sad that I have to write this in 2024, I need to emphasize my gratitude to Substack for allowing freedom of speech without censorship. You can still find all of my archived pieces here for free. Reread or discover columns for the first time. Invite your friends to do the same. Common sense is always in style.
May God bless you, may God bless your families, and may God bless the United States of America.
I look forward to creating new content in the future with you at my side.
Take care. I'll miss reading your opinion.
God bless you, Erin. I found you through reading John Kass. You are in my prayers.
